How Aurelot works
Gold land in Kenya is sold through word of mouth, and buyers abroad carry most of the risk. Aurelot puts the evidence on the page: the mineral right, the land title, and every gold sample in ppm with the method and certificate behind it.
Reading a gold grade
1 ppm (part per million) of gold is 1 gram of gold in every tonne of rock, written 1 g/t. Results reported in ounces per ton or parts per billion are converted so every plot is compared on the same scale.
| Average grade | Label | What it usually means |
|---|---|---|
| Below 0.5 ppm | Trace | Gold present, rarely economic on its own |
| 0.5 to 1.5 ppm | Low grade | Can work for large, bulk open-pit operations |
| 1.5 to 4 ppm | Moderate grade | Attractive for open-pit and small-scale mining |
| 4 to 10 ppm | High grade | Can support underground or artisanal shaft mining |
| 10 ppm and above | Very high grade | Rich veins; confirm with more than one sample |
How a sample was measured matters as much as the number. Lab fire assay is the industry standard. Handheld XRF readings are quick but unreliable at the low gold levels most deposits have, and a single grab sample picks the best-looking rock. Sample averages are not a mineral resource estimate.
Gold plots
1. The lister uploads the evidence
Title deed or allotment letter, the mineral right (artisanal permit, prospecting, exploration or mining licence), photos, a survey map, and every gold sample with its lab certificate.
2. We check the mineral right
The licence number, holder, area and expiry are checked against Kenya's online mining cadastre. Plots without a mineral right are labelled so you know an application is still needed.
3. We check the land
An advocate runs an official search on the title to confirm the registered owner and any charges, cautions or disputes. Community land listings need the community land management committee's consent.
4. We check the gold grades
Each lab result is matched to the original certificate and, where possible, confirmed with the lab. Verified samples carry a green seal. The headline grade uses verified lab assays first, so a single field reading cannot inflate it.
5. You visit, resample and pay through escrow
Investors can request an escorted site visit or an independent geologist to resample. Deposits go to escrow with a licensed bank or advocate and are released when the transfer is registered.
Processed gold
Only dealers holding a valid mineral dealer licence can list gold. We confirm the licence and the assay certificate before a lot goes live.
Before funds are released, buyers can attend an independent re-assay. For exports we coordinate the export permit and royalty with the seller, so the gold leaves Kenya legally.
